Happy Belly, Happy Me!
“Eat to live, not live to eat.” This was one of the Buddha teachings. It means that “by knowing our own moderation in eating, learning why we have to eat and what to eat so that we can maintain a healthy life. We can then empower ourselves to learn and practice for the better and break any break away from any obstacles in life; to be happy and healthy.”
Hi, I'm Joy, a former pastry chef who used to have my own business, then worked for a restaurant both as in-house & as a consultant, now just enjoying life, food & photography. I still do spend time in the kitchen once in a while just to relax and make some comfort foods for me, my family & my friends. I love food no matter what. We need food in order to live. I have reached a certain level in life that as I mature, I yearn for more knowledge about certain things. Things that will help sustain the future generations. As adults, we need to learn & promote things that will help shape the future's survival.
Happy Belly, Happy Me is not just about eating but also about being aware where our food comes from. I will feature restaurants once a month or every other month that supports the mantra of sustainable living.
I love food in general, but I would like to know how some food ingredients were harvested or grown. We as humans had taken for granted the fact that we can buy food anytime, anywhere in this world. How many of you can easily say that before you buy food, you think first of where they came from & how was it harvested?
Our world is getting smaller, the world’s population is getting bigger. With the world’s population growth, the only way we can feed the world is to help support sustainable living. This way, we can ensure that the future generations can still eat fresh & healthy food everyday and not resort to artificially processed.
Here’s a suggestion: If you have a little plot of land behind your house, you can grow your own little vegetable garden, start with something that you frequently buy from the store, tomatoes perhaps? If you live in an apartment and have no garden but only a sunny balcony, you can have potted plants, start with herbs that you frequently use in cooking or even a dwarfed lemon tree. Lemons are very handy when you need one or two for the fish that you’re grilling, frying or baking.
Anyway, the reason for this blog site was to share my food knowledge and also to learn more about sustainable living. Remember, this world is not only for us but for the future generations as well.
Eat healthy, Live Happy.
